Abstract
The recorded squids in our Egyptian Mediterranean and Red Seas are Loligo vulgaris, Loligo forbesi,Illex coindetii, Alloteuthis media, Uroteuthis photololigo duvaucelii and Sepioteuthis lessoniana. Alloteuthis media, Loligo vulgaris and Illex coindetii are restricted to the Egyptian Mediterranean waters. On the other hand Uroteuthis photololigo duvaucelii is an Egyptian Red Sea dweller. Loligo forbesi and Sepioteuthis lessoniana exist in both localities. This study focused mainly on using the sucker rings structure as a main tool for identification.
